About Camphill - Learning
More about Camphill
Ever since the establishment of the first Camphill community to provide Curative Education for children, learning and continuous self development have been important parts of Camphill life. Learning for pupils and students at the Camphill schools and colleges is based on the Steiner Waldorf curriculum. It is holistic education, helping the children and young people realise their potential. Education and training for older students helps develop the maturity and skills required for life in the adult world and can include gaining recognised qualifications. Community members who live and work in Camphill adult communities continue with education and training. It can include attending courses at local colleges, on-the-job training in the workplace, courses for self development and understanding, literacy, numeracy or leisure courses. Training is provided for all community members appropriate to their work. Further education can include a Bachelor’s degree in Social Pedagogy, or training in mental health, care, biodynamic agriculture and horticulture, administration and so on. There is active encouragement to gain greater understanding of the principles on which Camphill is based and to gain skills and qualifications to help communities and their people meet changing needs.
