About Camphill - Enterprising
More about Camphill...
Camphill communities are dynamic places, always developing new initiatives to meet changing needs. In recent years, new forms of flexible housing have been developed to meet changing expectations, the needs of an ageing population and the desire of many for greater independence and a ‘place of their own’ within the support network of Camphill. While some people prefer a sheltered environment, others feel a need for greater independence. Different forms of Camphill community life are developing in towns, cities and the countryside to meet those needs. Social enterprise is an integral part of Camphill communities.

There are organic food stores, bakeries, dairies, cafés, restaurants, galleries, craft centres, garden nurseries and more, serving the public and offering work and training opportunities. New initiatives often develop in close co-operation with other stakeholders including social services departments, health boards, arts organisations and education authorities – finding enterprising ways of meeting changing expectations and needs.
