Celebrations are an important part of life at all Camphill communities. They mark significant milestones in the lives of individuals and communities, recognising current achievements and aims for the future. They can be individual celebrations with family, friends, work colleagues or housemates recognising a new goal achieved, birthday or special anniversary. It might be a workplace celebration or involve those who come together for a leisure activity, or include all those who share life together at home. Other celebrations embrace the whole community – the opening of a new house, laying the foundation stone for a new community building, a community anniversary or special achievement.
Celebrations of the Christian festivals mark each community’s journey through the year. The artistic and cultural threads that are interwoven with all aspects of Camphill community life come to the fore in these celebrations. Music, drama, poetry, dance, eurythmy and other art forms are often included. Everyone who wants to take part is supported in doing so.
